Patek Philippe traces its origins to Geneva in 1839, when Antoine Norbert de Patek and François Czapek founded the firm; the Patek Philippe name was established in 1845. The Stern family has led the company since 1932, an ownership structure that has kept long-term thinking at the centre of the craft.
The collections read as a considered range rather than a single signature. Calatrava holds to round, restrained proportions; Nautilus, launched in 1976 and designed by Gérald Genta, brought a steel sports silhouette with a case all its own; Aquanaut continues that sportier thread, while Grand Complications gathers the maison's most demanding mechanical work.
Refined finishing runs throughout — movement bridges, dials and cases treated with the same patience — and designs conceived decades ago still look current.
