Breitling was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, with a focus on chronographs and timing instruments. That instrument-making brief still shapes the collection: legible dials, purposeful bezels and a preference for function made visible rather than hidden.
The Navitimer, introduced in 1952, carries a circular slide-rule bezel at its centre — a feature that became the line's defining geometry. Chronomat, Superocean and Avenger cover different ground, from polished chronographs to dive-oriented tool watches, while Emergency includes a built-in distress beacon that extends the aviation brief in an unexpected direction.
Across the range, the design language stays instrument-like: clear markings, sturdy cases and the sense that every detail should serve a reading, whether on a flight deck or under water.
